We explore mechanisms of interaction and adaptation of marine bacteria to their environment. We are particularly interested in zooming into the fascinating environment around cell membranes and the extracellular matrix, where many ecological and biogeochemical processes take place. We combine cutting-edge molecular and visualization tools to carry out fundamental and applied research in this field.
